Christopher Cross’ self‑titled debut arrived at the close of the 1970s, a fresh sound amid disco and hard rock. Produced by Michael Omartian, the album defined “soft rock” — later crowned yacht rock — and delivered four Top 20 singles: Ride Like the Wind (#2, with Michael McDonald), Never Be the Same (#15), Say You’ll Be Mine (#20, with Nicolette Larson), and the #1 smash Sailing, which won both Record and Song of the Year Grammys.

The album went 5x Platinum and swept the “Big Four” categories at the 23rd Annual Grammy Awards, an unprecedented achievement.

This expanded edition, mastered by Bernie Grundman and restored by Michael Graves, adds 11 rare tracks including three previously unreleased songs (What Am I Supposed to Believe, Smiles of Angels, Passengers), demos from the original sessions, and the Japanese‑only A‑Side. New liner notes by Gene Sculatti, informed by a fresh interview with producer Michael Omartian, complete this deluxe reissue.
