THE ROAD TO ESCONDIDO

Disclosure

The Road to Escondido unites J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton in a timeless blend of blues, rock, country, and folk. Warm grooves and understated lyrics create a soulful journey that celebrates two masters in perfect harmony.

Guitar great J.J. Cale and 3-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, 16-time Grammy winner Eric Clapton joined forces for the first time to create The Road to Escondido, a landmark collaboration released in 2006. The resulting hybrid sound defies easy categorization, weaving influences across blues, rock, country, and folk. The songs are warm and rich, carried by deep flowing rhythms, yet marked by an economy of words that conveys profound meaning with subtle grace. This album also holds historical weight, featuring the final recordings of legendary keyboardist Billy Preston.

The vinyl captures the essence of two masters in dialogue—Cale’s understated groove and Clapton’s expressive guitar lines—melding into a seamless whole that feels timeless and restorative. Each track unfolds like a vignette, balancing lyrical restraint with instrumental depth, inviting listeners into a journey that is both soulful and contemplative.
